I currently have an application that is being distributed as a single, five, ten, and campus license. The software to date is still backed with a Microsoft Access database, and you and I know that is not good. The single, five, and ten seem to handle the load ok, but the campus license where more then ten students connect is not doing that good.
The database is for maintaining records of student accounts, student testing, and system engineering (I can send the database.mdb for review).
I would like to update the software that was developed with the Visual Basic 6.0 IDE with a SQL Server 2005 or 2008 database (I’m leaning more to the 2005 version) I hear the 2008 version requires a lot of user interaction during the install.
I need someone who can review the old database schema and advise me on how to re-develop, embed, and deploy the new version that includes this type of database. We need to address both the single user distribution and the network distributions. Within the single user license the database resides on the client computer, and the five user, ten user, and campus licenses the database will reside on a data server (I need help).
Can you point me in the direction of someone who I can work with?
